Remembering R.C. Sproul

On Thursday 14 December 2017, R.C. Sproul, a well-known speaker, pastor, theologian, and the founder of Ligonier Ministries, went home to be with the Lord. The life of Sproul is one of tremendous contribution to the Evangelical world, and while I may not have known him personally, his life and ministry, and theology have been an influence on me.

So with that being said, here are 10 of my favourite quotes from R.C. Sproul.

“Without God, man has no reference point to define himself.”

“We have to determine our theology from the word of God, not what we feel.”

“When God says something, the argument is over!”

“God has entrusted to us the ministry of the word, not its results.”

“God doesn’t want me to play with religion. He doesn’t want me to dabble in church. He wants me—body and soul.”

“You can’t love Jesus and not love His Word!”

“When I read the Bible, the Bible criticizes me, I don’t criticize the Bible.”

“The more we are in the Word of God, the more the Spirit who inspired the Word and who illumines it for us will use the Word to confirm in our souls that we are truly His, that we are indeed among the children of God.”

“True faith always produces real conformity to Christ.”

“I’ll retire when they pry my cold, dead fingers off of my Bible.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sproul family at this time. May God bless you and strengthen you at this time.

Mark is the Lead Writer at Theology Review. Mark has been a Christian since 2001, and now spends a lot of his time studying and researching various topics affecting Biblical and Church History. This has led him to start Theology Review, a place for thought and discussion on historical and current theology.
